Need Help Encouraging Your Kids To Brush Their Teeth? You Need The Rockabilly Kids!

If you struggle getting your kids to brush their teeth don't worry as help is here in the shape of The Rockabilly Kids, they're a brilliant new children's toothbrush which work similar to a Weeble in the sense that they wobble but they don't fall down. They come in a fab range of colours with characters that will appeal to both boys and girls, they're approved by dentists and they're super hygienic because they stand up by themselves so no need for a toothbrush holder which is apparently one of the dirtiest places in your house.

Take a look at this video to find out more.

The Rockabilly Kids toothbrush range all come with 3 extra heads which should keep your child brushing for a whole year and costs just £6.

You can currently buy one or all of these fab toothbrushes through their crowd funding scheme here. The owner of the company Hamish Khayat is using the crowd funding to get this project off the ground and is currently in talks with Jo-Jo Maman Bebe and Trotters and Tinc to stock The Rockabilly Kids, he'll also be in talks with bigger retail companies like Tesco, Sainsburys and John Lewis soon but he needs our support to enable him to make his first stock order.

Riley has the Vet Valerie toothbrush and he absolutely loves it, as soon as he saw it he immediately wanted to brush his teeth and I've had no trouble getting him to brush twice a day since having this toothbrush. They're perfect for kids of all ages and I think they would also make a great Christmas gift as they're such good fun.

Parenting Myths

As soon as I fell pregnant with my son it was like an open invitation to everyone around me to give me lots and lots of advice, most of it was much appreciated however I found some of it to end up being nothing more than a myth. One way to help you to decipher the myths from the facts is by taking a parenting class, CANparent is a new Government initiative which offers classes and advice to families all over the country with a different range of options to suit everyone's needs, from online support to local groups.

They've made a video about the myths you can encounter as a parent, take a look and see what you think.

On a CANparent class you can get support with everyday challenges such as:-
  • learning through play
  • parents working together as a team
  • communicating and staying calm
  • managing sleep issues
  • coping with difficult behaviour
  • rules and routines
  • understanding different stages of your child's development
For more expert parenting advise and more info on parenting classes visit and "like" CANparent on Facebook.

Here are some of my top parenting myths
  • Parenting comes naturally - for me this was not the case, I went home from the hospital with my son who was two days old and I remember thinking "what do I do now?". That first night my son didn't feed for 7 hours and I absolutely freaked out as I had been told he needed to feed every 3 hours, I ended up having a massive meltdown, convinced that there was something wrong with him and rang the hospital for advice, they reassured me that he was fine and would feed when he was ready which he did and it's things like this that you learn as you go along. Being a good parent is something we learn to do along the way, it's not something that comes naturally as soon as you give birth.
  • Bottle fed babies sleep better than breast fed babies - I breast fed my son and he has always, from day one been an excellent sleeper, as a newborn he woke once in the night for a feed and started sleeping through at 11 weeks, he's always napped well during the day and he still sleeps really well now. My daughter was formula fed from 3 weeks old and getting her to sleep well at night or in the day was quite a task, she would only sleep when she was being held and took much longer to sleep through the night. I think the fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter how you feed your baby, if they're going to be a good sleeper then they will be, if they're not then they won't.
  • If you give your child a wide range of food as soon as you start weaning they won't become a fussy eater - I did exactly this with my son, I cooked all his meals myself, I gave him a wide range of fruit and vegetables and made sure they were organic and he enjoyed them all, until he turned 2 and it all went horribly wrong. He started refusing his meals and then decided all he wanted to eat was crisps, his diet later broadened to crisps and chips and almost a year and a half later we're still battling with him to get him to eat anything remotely healthy. I don't worry about it too much as I know that fussy eating is very common in children his age and he has a multivitamin everyday so it's just a case of trying to encourage him to try new things in any way we can until he grows out of it.
What's your favourite parenting myth?

Riley's Special Postcard From Disney

A couple of months ago after watching one of his many Disney DVD's Riley asked me if he could write a letter to Mickey Mouse, I thought this was a really cute idea so I got some paper and some shiny star stickers and we sat down and wrote a letter. Riley told me what he wanted the letter to say and I wrote it for him, then he put the stickers on and it was ready to post, of course I had no idea what address to put on the letter so I did a bit of googling and found an address, I had no idea if it was right or not but I thought "what the heck let's give it a try"

We posted the letter about 9 weeks ago and to be honest I'd totally forgotten about it but today when we got home from picking Riley up from school we had a lovely surprise waiting on the door mat. A postcard had arrived all the way from Florida, addressed to Riley with all his favourite Disney characters on, he was absolutely chuffed to bits and it made my day to see him so happy.

It's great how something so simple can make a child so happy! If you have a little one at home that would love a postcard from Disney then the address to post your letters to is

Christmas Haul Part 2

I've been buying more Christmas items and I thought you might like to see them, can't wait to put my decorations up next weekend!

My husband actually came home with these after I sent him to Tesco for some nappies and I absolutely love them. We're going for a Nordic theme this Christmas so these mugs will fit in perfectly and I think my husband said they were 3 for 2.

I got this lovely Christmas Stocking from Funky Giraffe, it's really thick and padded and it's a good size to fit lots of little goodies in. They cost just £8 inc P&P which is an absolute bargain.

This Crochet Ball Tree Decoration is from Clintons and fits in perfectly with our Nordic theme, it's currently on sale for £4.50.

Every year I always buy the usual Cadburys Advent Calendars but I never know where to put them because they look so untidy as soon as you start opening the doors, so I thought I'd try a Wooden Advent Calendar. I got this gorgeous one from Country Baskets and I absolutely love it, I've bought some white chocolate coins and milk chocolate snowballs to put in the little boxes for Riley to open everyday and it looks so much nicer than the paper ones.

I love to buy my Christmas chocolate from Thorntons, they always do some lovely gift boxes and cute children's chocolate. This year I got Riley a Snowman and the Snowdog and for ourselves I got a yummy Milk Chocolate Hamper so we're sorted for all our chocolate needs this Christmas.

I hope you enjoyed having a nosey at what I got and I'm sure I'll have some more things to show you before Christmas gets here so look out for Christmas Haul Part 3 coming soon lol.

Some of these items have been sent for review but all opinions are 100% honest.

Inspiration For Summer's 1st Birthday Party

I love planning parties, especially parties for my children. I usually start searching for inspiration months before the actual event to make sure I get everything exactly how I want it, so of course I'm already thinking about Summer's first birthday party which isn't until March.

I've been trawling Pinterest for weeks and I've found quite a few ideas that I really like so I thought I'd share them with you.

I love the colours of these party decorations, I think the mint green, baby pink and gold go so beautifully together and I adore the bow theme as I'm a little bit obsessed with bows.

I think this Breakfast at Tiffany's theme is so adorable and I love the ombre cake.

I really like the pretty colours of this party decor and I love the framed photos of the birthday girl in the background. You can get some great posters for kids parties from Pixel2Print at really reasonable prices which would be perfect to recreate these party decorations.

Lastly I love this cloud theme, it's so cute and unusual. I think it really works well as a baby's party theme.

As always let me know what you think

Personal Planner Giveaway

I can't live without some kind of diary or planner as I have the worst memory ever and trying to remember work appointments, doctors appointments and everything I need to do on my two blogs would be impossible without something to write everything down in.

I was recently contacted by Personal Planner who make gorgeous planners which can be personalised however you want, I jumped at the chance of receiving one and immediately went on to their website to design mine.

The first thing you choose is what size planner you would like and I chose the A5 planner, next you chose the cover and I chose to put my own photos on the front and back and for the cover text I chose Emma's Planner. You can pretty much choose every detail of your planner even down to the month it starts and the colour of the elastic closure.

Inside the planner you can customise the layout, whether you want ruled lines or not, what colour you would like it, if you'd like a ruler and which colour and if you want a timetable, so you really can make your planner include everything you need to keep your life organised.

I included a to do list for all my blogging projects and a list of the week as I'm obsessed with writing lists lol. I also love that in the back of the planner you can choose to have lots of pages for notes as I'm constantly making notes about future blog posts, things I need to review and giveaways I have coming up, it means I don't need a separate notebook and everything is all in one place.

If you like the look of this planner and would like one for yourself why not enter my giveaway as I'm giving one lucky reader the chance to win one for themselves. The giveaway is open to UK residents only and to enter just fill in the Rafflecopter form below.

Good Luck!

I was sent a planner to review but all opinions are 100% my own.

Merci Maman Personalised Bracelet Giveaway

I'm not much of a jewellery wearer I must admit, I think it comes from studying beauty at college and them having strict rules on no jewellery I just got out of the habit of wearing it. However when I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Merci Maman and asked if I would like to review a bracelet I couldn't resist as their personalised jewellery is some of the most beautiful jewellery I've ever seen.

Merci Maman sells a beautiful selection of necklaces, bracelets, cufflinks and key rings which can all be hand engraved which gives each item a special, personal touch. Every stunning piece is hand crafted and hand etched in their London studio and every piece comes in a gorgeous orange gift box, sealed with a bow. They make the perfect gift if you're looking for something extra special for someone, particularly Mothers.

I decided to go for the Personalised Gold Plated Intertwined Bracelet with mine and my husbands names engraved on the larger circle and my children's names engraved on the smaller circle. I received my bracelet last week and as soon as I put it on I started getting comments on how beautiful it was, I'm totally in love with it, it's so special with all my loved ones names on it, it's something I'll cherish forever.

If you love this bracelet as much as I do then it's your lucky day as the lovely people at Merci Maman are allowing me to give one of these bracelets away, if you enter you will win a Personalised, Gold Plated, Intertwined Bracelet with the satin braid in the colour of your choice, see the picture above for the colours available. The giveaway is open to UK residents only, to enter just fill in the Rafflecopter form below.

Good Luck!

The bracelet was given to me for review but all opinions are 100% honest and my own.

Summer's First Shoes

It's getting near to that time when my baby girl Summer will need her first pair of shoes, I don't know why but it always seems like such a momentous occasion, maybe it's because it's a sign of them growing up.

I don't know about you but I always like to get my babies a pair of Clarks first shoes as their first pair, probably because they have such a good reputation for quality and comfort.

Here's some Clarks shoes that I like for Summer.

Shoes by Mail have a great selection of Clarks shoes so if you're on the lookout for some new shoes for your little one then I recommend you take a look.

Do you buy your children Clarks shoes?

This is a PR collaboration.

Summer's 7 Month Update

I'm a little late posting this as Summer is actually 8 months old now but I thought I'd post it anyway. She's come on leaps and bounds this month and has all of a sudden learnt to do lots of new things, she's growing up too fast.

Not much has changed this month with regards to sleeping, you're still sleeping well at night and napping well in the day. You've become quite attached to your little blanket that you have in bed and you seem to like to suck the corner of it for comfort, why you can't just have a dummy or suck your thumb I don't know lol

You're still enjoying your food and loving the baby led weaning although I do still give you pureed food aswell to make sure you're getting enough. I tried to move you up to the 7 months + food which has small lumps in and you don't like it at all, you actually had your very first temper tantrum when I tried to give it to you, I've never seen you so angry lol you tried to rip your bib off and you were so upset. I've tried you with the lumpy food a couple of times since with no luck so that's something we're going to have to work on I think.

You love bread and bananas but your favourite fruit are blueberries.

What you've been up to

You must have been through a massive growth spurt this month both mentally and physically, in the space of 2 weeks you learnt to clap, wave and say Dada and Mumum. You say Dada the most and you say it when you see Daddy so you know exactly what it means, if I ask you where Riley is you look straight at him and also if I ask where's Puppy you look straight at Macho so you know who everyone is.

You're nearly sitting up by yourself and I'm sure it won't be long until you're crawling. You're bored of all your baby toys like rattles etc and you like toys with lots of buttons to press, flashing lights and music now. We had lots of fun on Halloween and you looked super cute dressed up as a kitten.

Here's a few photos of you from the last month.

You're very independent and not nearly as cuddly as your big brother but you're my special girl and I love my squidgy very much :)

November Favourites

I know it's a little early for my November Favourites post but there are so many products that I'm loving at the moment I thought I better write this post now before the list gets too long.

Comfort sent me this lovely little hamper with a bottle of their new Christmas scent fabric softener Vanilla & Gold Iris, a Vanilla Reed Diffuser and a lovely Christmas apron. I've been on the look out for a fabric softener where the scent stays on your clothes for ages so I was so pleased when I tried this one and found that my clothes smelt amazing days after being washed. I love Vanilla so this is perfect for me, it smells so nice I literally can't stop smelling myself, Comfort Vanilla & Gold Iris is available to buy in all leading supermarkets now.

My next favourite are Naty nappies, I normally use Aldi nappies but I do like to do my bit for the environment so when I was asked to try the Naty nappies which have eliminated as much non-biodegradable materials as possible whilst maintaining performance and comfort I jumped at the chance. I found the nappies work really well for Summer, I've had no leakages and overall I'm really impressed with them, if you're trying to go green then I highly recommend these nappies. You can buy Naty nappies from Boots, Toys R Us, Mothercare, Sainsburys and Tesco.

These next items have been a lifesaver for me just lately, I have a pushchair where the handle is all the way across so I can't hang shopping bags on it which poses a problem when I walk to the shops as the only place I can put my shopping is in the basket under the pushchair and I can't fit that much in there. However help came in the form of Buggy Hooks and Buggy Clips, the Buggy Hooks can hold up to 2.5kg of shopping, have adjustable, extra strong velcro straps that will fit most pushchair handles, the hooks rotate 360 degrees to fit different shaped items and you get 2 hooks for just £5.99. The Buggy Clips are very similar but they use a spring clip instead of a hook, you also get 2 of these for £5.99. They make life so much easier when I'm going shopping and for less than £6 they're a total bargain.

Summer's favourite this month has definitely been her sleepsuit from Crawlerz, they have grippers all down the front of the legs and feet to stop babies from slipping when they're trying to crawl on wood, tiled or laminate floors and as we have a lot of laminate floors in our house this sleepsuit will come in handy. They come in pink, blue or white and I'm definitely going to order some more.

Lastly Riley's favourite this month has been the Zeamu CD which has contains music that is appropriate for children but is also good enough that adults enjoy it too. Most pop songs in the charts these days are great for adults but the content isn't very often appropriate for children, with subjects like relationships, drinking and clubbing and up until now the only other option for kids are nursery rhymes which after a while can drive parents mad so this CD is great as it combines good pop music with subjects that children can relate to like friends and school. Riley has loved listening to the music and singing along to the songs and actually me and my husband quite like it too.

So that's everything we've been loving so far this month, let me know what you're loving at the moment.

Some of these items were given to me for review purposes but all opinions are 100% honest

Girls Night In Or Girls Night Out?

If you asked me ten years ago what was my idea of a good night then I'd have said "having drinks in my favourite bars and then on to a club", ask me the same question now and I'd answer "having a night in with a good film and some chocolate", it's quite interesting that a survey by Ladbrokes Bingo showed that nearly 70% of 2000 women said that they preferred a night in with the girls to a night out on the town.

I think something that plays an important factor in women preferring a night in is money, going out is pretty expensive these days and as a result we seem to be going out less. I recently had a Girls Night In Giveaway on my beauty blog and it was incredibly popular, much more popular than I had anticipated which also points towards women choosing to stay in over going out.

So what else puts women off going on a night out?
According to the ladies surveyed:

  • 60% said the long queues at the bar were the most annoying thing.
  • 54% said they were pretty irritated by the loos in clubs not having any paper.
  • 51% having to pay so much to get into a club was pretty irritating too.
  • 34% said looking after a friend who has had one too many could put a dampener on things.
  • 15% said accidently bumping into an ex could really bring the mood down.

I definitely prefer a night in these days but what do you prefer, a night in or a night out?

Leave a comment and let me know

Do You Share Too Much Online?

With social media being so popular these days we seem to share almost every aspect of our lives from photos of us and our children, to details about what we're doing at the moment, the question is,  is it really safe to be sharing so much?

The answer to that question is it's not safe and we should really be more concerned with protecting our privacy on social media networks. Think about what you're posting online as details such as your address could easily be mentioned in what you think is an innocent conversation, but you never know who could see that information. Should you then post that you're going away on holiday, then anyone who might have come across personal details like your address or even your street name will know the period in which your home will be vacant and if they have ill intentions could take advantage of such information. Not a pleasant thought, I know, but the reality is that there are people out there who would take advantage of this information, which is why we need to be careful.

Here's an example for you, a friend of mine shared some photo's of her child on their first day of school, on the photo you could clearly see the school logo on their bag which would let anyone know exactly where that child goes to school. This information in the hands of a criminal could potentially be very dangerous but from my friends point of view she was just sharing an exciting milestone in her family's life.

The point is that we need to think smart when it comes to how much information we share online and who we share it with. Protecting our homes and families is the most important thing.

How much do you share online? Is it too much?

We're Official Babies R Us Babyologists!

A couple of weeks ago I had some very exciting news, me and my children have been chosen to become official Babies R Us Babyologists! We were lucky enough to be chosen to give our honest opinions on some great toys and I couldn't wait to get started.

The first toy that we are reviewing is the Fisher Price Musical Lion Walker, my first thought when I saw it was how cute it is, it's in the shape of an adorable, colourful lion and it was super easy to put together, I managed to do it with no problems whatsoever. It has 8 different activities including a light up nose, musical piano keys, a peek-a-boo mirror, flip page, bat-at roller ball ears, clacker-bead toes, a spinning dial and a slider butterfly. The walker is very sturdy and seems really strong and safe for when Summer takes her first steps.

Summer isn't walking yet but she's sitting up so this is ideal for her to sit and play with, she was mesmerized with the lion's light up nose and she loved the little tunes it plays, her favourite part were the musical piano keys which she loved to keep pressing over and over, it kept her entertained for ages.

The great thing about this walker is that it's perfect for sit and play as well as stand and walk so it will be something that she enjoys playing with for quite some time. I can't wait for her to pull herself up and start to walk with this as she'll discover a whole new way to play with it, even her big brother Riley thought it was lots of fun.

If you're looking for a walker for your baby whether they're a girl or a boy the Fisher Price Lion Walker is a great buy, with lots of fun activities and it's bright, colourful design my babies love it and it gets a big thumbs up from us.

Summer's Winter Wishlist

There are a few items of Winter clothing that I've been wanting to get for Summer so I thought I'd do a Winter Wishlist post and show you what I want to get for her.

  1. First on the list is this adorable outfit from Strawberry, they have a great range of baby designer clothes. I love the faux fur gilet, it's such a cute, colourful outfit I think it would look adorable on Summer.
  2. Next are these gorgeous little shoes, also from Strawberry Children, I love the little diamante and pearl studs and I think they'll be perfect for Christmas.
  3. I've actually already bought this next outfit from Asda, I couldn't resist as it's super cute and will definitely be one of Summer's Christmas outfits this year.
  4. I love this cute onesie with the frill going around it like a little skirt and the adorable heart shaped pockets, this is also from Asda.
  5. Lastly and also from Asda are these My 1st Christmas pjs, children have to have Christmas pjs, it's the law lol I like the little fairy on these and the heart print on the bottoms.
So that's what I'm hopefully going to pick up for Summer over the next few weeks, let me know what you think.

Nabby Baby Monitor

Nabby have created the next generation of baby monitors compatible with iPads, iPhones, iPods and Android phones and tablets. It's super easy to use, no long complicated instruction manuals to read and takes seconds to set up. The first thing I noticed was how small it was and that there are no wires which means you can place it anywhere in your child's room without having to worry about putting it near to a plug socket and as it has the worlds lowest radiation you don't have to worry about effecting your baby.

There's no signal interference with the Nabby so you won't hear anyone else's baby crying except your own, it has a 70 hour battery life and it alerts you in plenty of time if it's battery is running low, to charge it you just plug it into your laptop and it's fully charged in an hour. It works by using long range Bluetooth and can be used up to 370 yards away, you can easily customise your Nabby to suit your needs by using the sensitivity settings, temperature settings and even naming your Nabby.

To use the Nabby monitor you need to download the free Nabby app from the app store and if you want all the additional features like the room temperature and sleep timer options which I highly recommend you get then it costs just 69p.

I think one of my favourite features about this monitor is how portable it is, it's ideal to use if I'm going to a relatives house and I want to put Summer down for a nap in another room. I also really like that it tells you how long Summer has been asleep, it really helps me to keep track of how much sleep she's had that day.

If you'd like to find out more about Nabby Baby Monitors then check out their website here or visit their Facebook or Twitter.

We were sent the Nabby for review purposes but all opinions are 100% honest and my own.
