Redecorating Your Home With Your Kids

Spring is the season when most people look around their house and garden and notice that it might need a refurbishment. This can be more difficult with small children, but if you involve them in the activity, the whole family can have some fun.

Replacing damaged windows

If your home is older, you may have the job of maintaining the wooden doors and windows. It’s very easy to source sash window parts and install them to ensure that the house is secure and draught proof. You can take this opportunity to explain the history of your house to your children.

Painting a house can be fun

It’s important not to overestimate your child’s attention span, or their abilities. Make sure that all furniture and other surfaces are protected and covered before you start the makeover. Perhaps you could give your kids their own set of painting overalls, to make them feel important. Obviously, you should reserve the fiddly window frame and skirting boards painting for yourself, but there’s no harm in letting your child to try their luck on a large expanse of wall.

Giving your child’s room a makeover

Make sure that you involve your child in the decisions concerning their bedroom. This room should become their own private sanctuary, where they can let their imagination run wild. Fads change though, so if your kid adores The Hobbit this year, there’s no guarantee that this theme will be so popular in following years. You could always compromise with bedding and posters in one style and have a more generic approach to the rest of the room.

The garden can be updated

If you want to encourage your child to tear themselves away from the plasma screen or the games console, then why not extend your garden into an alternative play space. Trampolines are great fun, but remember to buy one that is fitted with protection so that the children do not fall off the edge. If you are feeling flush, you could always construct a den or tree house for your child. You could convert an existing garden shed, or you could start from scratch depending on your time and budget.

Encourage your child’s green fingers

If you want your child to become more involved in the garden, why not set up a flower bed solely for their use. You can always take them to a local garden centre and let them choose the plants they want to sow. You’ll instil a feeling of pride and confidence in your child once their plants start to grow.

Primark Haul - Riley's Summer Clothes

If you follow me on Instagram then you will have seen that I had a pretty big shopping spree in Primark in preparation for our holiday in a few weeks. Most of the clothing that I bought from there was for my 3 and a half year old son Riley so today I thought I'd share with you what I got for him and also some bits that I got from a few other shops for his holiday.

The first item I picked up for Riley was this pale blue short sleeved shirt with white bird prints, I thought it would look really smart with a pair of smart shorts or trousers for the evening when we're away and it was only £4.00.

Next I got him 2 pairs of shorts, I love the purple pair with the mint coloured camera prints as I thought they were really cool and both pairs will be perfect for our holiday.

After I had picked out the shorts I needed to make sure that Riley had some t-shirts that would go with them so I picked out this mint coloured t-shirt and this navy, mint and blue striped vest, both of which will look great with his new shorts.

Riley already has some denim shorts that still fit him from last year so I thought both of these t-shirts would go really well with those.

Lastly from Primark I got him 2 plain white t-shirts for £2.00 because they go with anything so they will be great to wear with any of his shorts or trousers.

Next we went to Mothercare where I got him these gorgeous nautical canvas shoes, I'm a little obsessed with nautical items so I loved these straight away and also I thought they'd look cute with his other new clothes.

Also from Mothercare are the swim shorts on the right, I thought they were really cool and with Riley's messy blonde hair he looks like a bit of a surfer so these were perfect. I also picked him up another pair of swim shorts from TK Maxx because they reminded me of a pair that Ian has and I like Riley to look like a mini Daddy sometimes.

I wanted a new pair of these Converse style hi-tops for Riley to wear throughout Summer and I thought these grey ones from H&M were perfect. I can not tell you how many pairs of these hi-tops Riley has had in his life, he has literally had a pair non-stop since he was 1. This is his third pair of grey ones and he also currently has a pair of teal ones and some sage green ones on the go too, they're super cheap at just £5.99 and they fasten with velcro so no messing about with shoelaces, they're perfect for little boys or girls as they do girls ones too to run around in and they look so cute.

The last shop we went to was Matalan which is one of my favourite places to shop for the kids clothes, I got this pack of 2 t-shirts which I thought would go perfectly with his new shorts.

And I also got him 2 hats, Riley chose the grey baseball cap with the little face on it and I chose the straw hat. Riley looks so cute in these hats it's unbelievable, here's a photo of him in the straw hat, he's such a cutie!

So that's everything that we bought for Riley for his holidays, hope you enjoyed seeing what we got and I'll be posting soon about what I got for myself and what Summer will be wearing on holiday.

My Holiday Destination Wishlist

Me and my husband love to travel and have been to some wonderful places over the years including Thailand, Sri Lanka, The Maldives and Dubai but there are many more countries that we would love to visit, here is my holiday destination wishlist.

A Cruise of the Norwegian Fjords

I've always fancied going on a cruise and Norway is such a beautiful place, it's somewhere we would really like to visit. We would start the Cruise from Southampton and then take in the amazing scenery of the Norwegian fjords and maybe even visit Iceland too which is another place we would love to go.

A Kenyan Safari

We've never done a safari so this is something that is definitely on our holiday wishlist and Kenya seems the perfect place to go for this kind of holiday. We'd love to get to see the animals in their natural habitat instead of seeing them in a zoo and we'd also like to learn more about the culture.

Mexico

Apart from the fact that it looks like an amazing destination for a beach/sunbathing type holiday it also has some really interesting historical attractions like Chichen Itza which is a large city built by Mayan people and is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

So those are the holiday destinations that are on my wishlist at the moment, what is at the top of your holiday wishlist?

Growing Your Business

As a business owner myself I'm always looking for ways to grow my business and in this day and age I think the best way is through the media. Total Media are among one of the many Media buying agencies in London that can help you to identify the correct mix to provide effective customer engagement which delivers against your business growth ambitions.

With social media being so popular at the moment a company like Total Media could really help you to increase you online status and look after your brand awareness and customer engagement.

Since I've been concentrating on my social media engagement I've definitely seen an increase in my business, in my opinion it's the way forward when promoting my business.

Our Fun Day At Hatton Adventure World

Last week we were lucky enough to be invited to visit Hatton Adventure World, a super fun day out in a lovely farm setting for families with children up to the age of 12 in Warwickshire.

The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the fact that everywhere looked so clean and well kept, leading up to the entrance to the Adventure World there are some lovely shops and a garden centre which looked really nice.

Our first stop when we arrived was Snorty's Restaurant and Bouncing Barnyard because we got there around lunch time and also we knew the soft play area was in there and that is what Riley was most excited about.

The food was delicious, me and Ian had pizza and chips and Riley and Summer had chips and chicken nuggets, the nuggets weren't your average reformed chicken variety though they were real pieces of chicken breast in breadcrumbs and the kids loved them. There were plenty of places to sit and eat and lots of high chairs available which always helps.

Inside the restaurant was the amazing new soft play areas, one for older children and another for toddlers which also had a sensory room which Summer loved. If you have children that are a bit older than mine this would be ideal as they can go off and play after their lunch while you sit and have a cup of tea but you can still keep and eye on what they're up to.

Riley's favourite part of the soft play was the big wavy slide, he must have dragged poor Daddy on it about 15 times in a row. There were also 2 other slides for the older children that looked like lots of fun too.

After we had spent some time in the soft play area we decided to venture out and see what else there was to see and do. As it was the Easter holidays there were some Easter themed activities including several Easter Egg Hunts throughout the day and an Easter Bunny Hunt which Riley loved doing, basically all you had to do was make your way around the park and find the Easter Bunnies which all had a number and a bow in their favourite colour, then you noted down which number bunny you found and what colour it's bow was and when you've found them all you got a prize which was a little Easter Egg.

Another big hit with Riley was the massive JCB Track, there were loads of ride on tractors to choose from and Riley spent ages riding around, going over the bumps and under the tunnel and then pretending to fill up with petrol.

You've got to love Riley's fake smile for the camera lol

Spring is the perfect time to visit Hatton Adventure World as all of the farm animals have just had their babies and let's face it who doesn't love a baby lamb, piglet or goat.

Riley's favourite animal at the moment are Guinea Pigs so he was thrilled to visit the Guinea Pig Village where there were loads of them, I don't think I've ever seen so many Guinea Pigs in one place. They even had a separate section for the pregnant ones.

The pregnant Guinea Pigs lol

We also had a look in the Scales and Tails area where there were snakes, tortoises and tarantulas but we didn't stay in there long as Riley isn't keen on creepy crawlies.

Mid afternoon we decided to stop off and have a cup of tea and some cake as they had a yummy selection of cakes available and Riley wanted a go on the little tractor ride.

After our cup of tea we saw some more of the farm animals, Riley had a go on a water squirting game and we watched the Hatton's Grand National which was lots of fun.

There was so much to do that we didn't have time to do it all as we arrived later than planned or they were too old for Riley and Summer.

The Time Warp Tractor Ride where you enjoy a trip into the past or future
The Great American Gold Rush where you can pan for gold and receive a medal for finding some
All The Fun of The Fair which included bouncy castles, superslides and trampolines
The Anaconda Slide
The Pony Rides
The Family Theatre
Frisbee Golf
The Assault Course
Fort Hatton
And much more

We had a wonderful day at Hatton Adventure World and I would highly recommend it to anyone with kids for a lovely day out. It's definitely somewhere we'll be visiting again, probably in Autumn so that we can visit their Pumpkin Patch and get a free pumpkin for Halloween.

We were given free entry to Hatton Adventure World for purpose of review but all thoughts and opinions are 100% honest and my own.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone, I hope your weekend has been as fun as ours. We've had an Easter party at our house and been to another party at Ian's parents house and the kids have loved it.

As usual the children have been spoilt with lots of chocolate and treats but we've all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I thought I'd share a few photos of our Easter festivities.

Here are some photos of the party we had at our house, any excuse to decorate and have a party I'm there, I love it! We got all of our party decor from Tesco and I thought it was so cute.

We had an Easter egg hunt and then the kids all had a go with the bunny ears.

Summer wore her super cute bunny outfit from F&F and then we were off to Ian's parents for another party and more Easter fun.

Riley had fun playing egg and spoon races with his cousin Alex and Summer loved finding lots of Easter treats with her big sister Natalie.

We've had a lovely time together and the weather wasn't too bad either, hope everyone else had a good one!
