I can't believe I'm writing this already, Summer's first year has gone so fast and as she's our last baby I wish it would slow down a little. We celebrated her 1st Birthday recently and we had a lovely owl and cloud themed party, Summer was poorly but she still enjoyed it as much as she could.
Summer is really coming on now, she's been crawling for a few months and is starting to want to stand while we hold her hands. She's also starting to say a few words like Mama and Dada, her word for her blankie is 'kie' and her word for absolutely everything else is 'yaya'.
Her hair is getting really long now and I'm undecided about what I'm going to do with her fringe as it's getting so long it's in her eyes, should I have a fringe cut in or should I let it grow out and sweep it to the side? I don't know yet so in the mean time I'm putting it up in a little ponytail on top of her head which Daddy says looks silly but I think it looks adorable.
Summer's favourite things to do are basically anything that she isn't supposed to be doing, she's obsessed with the dog's food, every time I turn my back she crawls as fast as she can to get to it and either try and eat it or empty all of his food in to his water bowl, Macho is not impressed by this. She loves to play with her big brother Riley although sometimes he can play a little rough and it usually ends up with tears.
Emptying the dvd and cd cabinet are also favourites of Summer's, if I had £1 for every time I've put all of the dvds back on the shelf I'm sure I'd be a millionaire. Summer's favourite things to play with are her ride-on toys, she loves the Smart Trike and her Fisher Price Musical Pony and cries every time I take her off them.
Summer has four teeth now and I love the little gap between her front teeth, I think it makes her look a bit cheeky. She's cutting some teeth at the moment though and is really suffering with it, much worse than when she cut her first four teeth and nothing I give her seems to help. Hopefully it won't last long though and I'll have my happy, smiley baby back.
This first year with Summer has been wonderful and at times terrifying but she's been worth every minute of it. I'd always been convinced that I'd have two boys and that my life would be full of football and cars etc, I had our futures all mapped out in my head, me, Ian and our boys. Having Summer has completely changed my life and our future now looks totally different, I feel very lucky to have a beautiful son and a completely adorable daughter.
Here's how Summer has changed over her first year.
