Aden + Anais Giveaway - How Clean Is Your Baby's Blanket?

Does your child have a special blanket? Both of my children do and they love them dearly.

My son has been inseperable from his since he was around 6 months and he's now almost 4 and he loves it more than ever. My daughter got very attached to her blanket when she was in hospital with pneumonia and it hasn't left her side ever since.

I don't mind them being so attached to their blankets as I know it's something that in time they'll grow out of but one thing I do worry about is how dirty they get especially since my daughter sucks on her for comfort.

Dr Pixie McKenna (presenter of Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies) who is a GP and a mum recently spoke about the problems with washing our clothes at low temperatures which isn't killing bacteria and is in fact encouraging a 'bacterial soup' inside our washing machines (which sounds revolting), germs are being transferred between items so we need to take steps to make sure that harmful bacteria doesn't end up on our children's clothes and blankets.

To make sure all of the bacteria in our laundry is killed there are two options, wash at a higher temperature, which is not always possible as a lot of modern fabrics can't withstand high temperatures or use a laundry disinfectant like Dettol Laundry Cleanser which kills 99.9% of bacteria even at 30°C.

If you want to banish your child's blanket bacteria for good then all you need to do is follow these 3 steps.

  1. Use Dettol Laundry Cleanser in every wash to kill 99.9% of bacteria.
  2. Avoid cross contamination when someone in your family is ill by washing their clothes and bedding separately and by keeping underwear out of washes that include tea towels and kitchen cloths.
  3. Clean your washing machine by running a 90°C cycle once a month, wipe down the seals and the detergent drawer with an anti-bacterial surface cleanser and leave the door open after each wash to keep it fresh and reduce mould growth.

I've been using Dettol Laundry Cleaner in every wash for a while now and it really puts my mind at rest knowing that my children's blankets and our clothes are all free from harmful bacteria.

As a treat for my lovely readers Dettol have been kind enough to provide me with 5 Aden + Anais Classic Musy Mate Lovey Baby Blankets to giveaway, all you need to do to enter is fill in the Rafflecopter form below, good luck!
