Tassimo Vivy Review

We've always wanted to have a coffee machine as we love a good cup of coffee in the morning but to be honest we didn't think we could really fit one in as our worktop space is pretty limited however I was recently asked to try the new Tassimo Vivy which is super compact and designed to be perfect for people who don't have a lot of space spare in their kitchen, we couldn't wait to give it a try.

Small on space, big on fun!

Measuring just 17cm in width and sitting pretty in Real Black or Snow White, the TASSIMO VIVY (T12) easily slides into any hard to fit space. Once you’ve found the perfect spot, simply choose your favourite T DISC, pop it in and let INTELLIBREW™ technology brew a tasty drink in minutes. The TASSIMO VIVY (T12) is perfect for any lifestyle – with morning brews and afternoon pick-me-ups just as you like it, in no time at all. Plus, with an automatic self-cleaning function, the VIVY is always ready for your next brew, whenever you are.

My first impression of the Vivy was that it was so cute, it fits perfectly on our worktop along side our kettle and tea, coffee and sugar jars. I love it's sleek, stylish appearance and the glossy black finish matches perfectly with our toaster so it looks like it belongs there rather than sticking out like a sore thumb.

We were sent some of the Carte Noire Cappuccino T Discs to try out with our machine and we couldn't wait to try them. We read the instructions on how to use the Vivy and at first I thought it was going to be really complicated but actually it's super easy to use, all you do is fill it up with water, put your cup onto the cup stand, pop one of the T Discs into place and press the button, it's so easy.

The Vivy is easy to clean and fits all cup sizes with it's adjustable cup stand, it has low energy consumption and no heat up time so you can have your drink instantly which I think is amazing.

We love our Tassimo Vivy and use it on a daily basis. If you're looking for a coffee machine that is nice and compact then I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. The T Discs come in a wide range of different drinks so there's something for everyone, on my list of drinks to try are the Oreo, Chai Latte, Green Tea & Mint and the Costa Caramel Latte.

Which drink would you like to try?

TGI Friday's Review

TGI Friday's is one of my favourite places to eat at so I was thrilled when we were asked to go and try their new kids menu and also it tied in perfectly with a special outing we had planned for Riley's birthday.

We had decided to take Riley for his first cinema experience and thought it would be really nice to have lunch in TGI Friday's before the film.

We went to the one in Nottingham as that's the closest to where we live and also it's right next door to the cinema so it was really handy. We got seated straight away without any waiting which is always nice when you have a child with you and they gave Riley a kids activity pack to entertain him while we ordered our food which Riley loved.

The new kids menu was brilliant, all of the small kids dishes come with apple sticks, mixed peppers, cucumber and carrot which is one of their five-a-day, the small kids meals are just £3.49 each and you could chose from Fish Fingers, Chicken Burger, Chicken Tenders, Tomato Tubes (pasta) and Hamburger. Riley chose the Chicken Tenders with fries but you could also choose to have potato waffles instead of fries if you wanted.

Riley's meal looked delicious and there was just the right amount of food for him, if you have slightly older children there are larger meals on the kids menu aswell.

While me and Ian chose our food we decided to get a Mocktail and I chose a Strawberry Fields which was strawberry puree with apple juice, elderflower cordial, rose and vanilla syrup topped up with ice and soda, it was so yummy and it was nice to have something other than a coke for a change.

For our mains we both opted for my absolute favourite meal at TGI's the Jack Daniel's Chicken & Shrimp which is a chargrilled chicken breast coated in Jack Daniel's sweet 'n' smoky glaze with Cajun-battered shrimp served with cheesy mash and seasoned vegetables. The Jack Daniel's glaze is out of this world, I'm addicted to it, it's so good!

The food was amazing as it always is when we come to TGI's and although we were quite full after our mains we made sure we saved some room for dessert. The kids dessert menu is great including some fab choices like the Fairground Sundae which is real dairy ice cream, candy floss, popcorn and mini donuts served with strawberry or chocolate sauce or Milk and Oreo Cookies. Riley isn't very adventurous when it comes to dessert so he just had vanilla ice cream but he really enjoyed it.

We chose to share the Cookies & Cream Sundae which was Oreo cookies in soft vanilla ice cream with fudge and Oreo pieces in chocolate sauce topped with cream. It was so yummy, we absolutely loved it and could probably have eaten one each but we had to save room for popcorn at the cinema.

Overall we had a fantastic time at TGI Friday's and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere that is family friendly with a fab kids menu and a great atmosphere.

Have you eaten at TGI Friday's before? If so what's your favourite dish?

Summer Time Fun With Home Bargains

A few weeks ago Home Bargains were kind enough to send over some fab products for us to use during the summer holidays and Riley was very excited when he saw what we had received.

We were sent

Adult beach towel - £5.99
Summer beach bat set - £1.99
Nivea sun lotion - £3.99
Ambre Solaire - £1.99
Sponge Bob armbands – 89p
Xpel mosquito repellent wipes – 89p
Swim kickboard - £2.99
Paddling pool - £3.49
Luggage tag – 59p
Xpel insect repellent spray – 89p

The kids absolutely loved the paddling pool and spend ages in there on really sunny days playing and laughing together. I love the nautical beach towel as I'm a little obsessed with nautical items so that was a winner for me, the sun cream and insect repellent were perfect for our holidays and is such a good price and the swim kick board and armbands will be brilliant for when Riley learns to swim.

Home Bargains is definitely one of my favourite shops for great quality items at really reasonable prices.

The Perfect House

Lately me and my husband have been discussing what and also where is our perfect house, we're happy in our current house but it needs a lot of work to get it to being anywhere close to our perfect house.

We're debating whether to stay where we are and do the work or move to a house that needs nothing doing to it. I love the idea of moving into the perfect house but does that even exist?

There's also the question of location, would we be better off moving somewhere else altogether, we currently live in Nottingham but maybe a move further south would make more sense for us. My husband would have more chance of a promotion if we lived closer to or in London as the company he works for is based there and I would benefit in terms of being a blogger as I could attend far more events.

We've looked at some property for sale in London and wondered what we could get for our budget and if it would be worth the move and the only negative I can see is that we would be quite far away from our families who we are very close to and I'm not sure how I feel about that right now.

Thinking about all of our options I think that possibly staying near family while the children are young is the best for us at the moment which means we need to do some serious work on our current house.

The first job we want to do is knock a wall out between our dining room and kitchen to make a big open plan kitchen, dining and living area. This is something that is going to take a lot of planning to get right but we're quite excited about it as we enjoy looking at interior design projects.

If you enjoy interior design projects then you might like to check out my Pinterest account as I'm pinning all of our home decor ideas on there at the moment.

Do you live in your perfect house?

Riley's Pop Art Superhero Birthday Party

A couple of weeks ago my son turned 4, I can't believe he's that old already it really has gone too fast. He loves superheroes so that had to be the theme of his party but I didn't want to just concentrate on one specific superhero I wanted it to be something a little different so I was thrilled when I found the Pop Art Superhero Party range from Party Pieces.

I chose the Ultimate Party Kit for 16 guests which contained

16 plates
16 paper cups
20 napkins
1 yellow plastic table cover
1 pop art bunting
10 yellow balloons
8 red balloons

I also got the party bags, food flags and the birthday cake decorations from Party Pieces.

Riley had a great time at his party and I had loads of compliments on the decorations so it was a big hit, I love party planning and I'm already back on the Party Pieces website choosing the decorations for the next party.

OXO Tot Seedling Highchair

A few weeks ago we were asked to try out the new OXO Tot Seedling Highchair and as we're huge fans of the OXO Tot feeding range we jumped at the chance. I'm going to be writing a few posts about the highchair so this first post is just going to introduce it and tell you about it's features.

My first impression of the Seedling was how simple the design is, it comes in a choice of three contemporary colours graphite, mocha and green (we chose graphite because I'm obsessed with grey at the moment) and I think it looks very subtle and fits in with our decor more than a really brightly coloured one with a busy design.

I found the Seedling really easy to put together and it only took about 5 minutes to do, I noticed straight away that the legs are spread really far apart which means that if you keep it pushed up against a wall like we do it sticks out quite far, luckily we have a lot of space in our dining room for it but that could be a problem for some people with limited space.

It's super easy to adjust the height of the highchair from in front of it or behind, there are 5 different seat heights so that you can position your child at chair or table height. The seat cover is wipe clean which really helps if you have a messy eater like I do and it's stain resistant too. Because the seat reclines it's suitable from 4 months and can be used for the earliest stages of weaning.

The tray depth is adjustable to accommodate your growing child and I love how the tray top is removable and suitable for dishwashers which makes cleaning up so much easier. The tray can also be removed and stored on the back of the highchair legs if you're using the chair pushed up to a table and the removable tray is stable when placed on the table or floor to avoid any messy spills.

I like how the chair has a nice big foot rest which moves with the chair so that Summer's feet aren't dangling and the Seedling is really easy to move around as it has wheels on the front legs which are lockable. The wheels are made of polyurethane so they won't scratch or mark your floors and the chair can be taken apart with no tools for easy storage.

OXO Tot very kindly sent us some of their fab feeding range to try out too so I'll be letting you know how we got on with the highchair and the feeding range very soon.

What are your first thoughts on the Seedling Highchair?

The Ordinary Moments - Mummy & Baby OOTD

I love fashion and I really enjoy putting together outfits for myself and for my children, it's such an ordinary, everyday thing but it's something I love so I thought it would be perfect for this week's post. We recently went out for the day to enjoy the lovely sunshine that we've been having and I wanted to share with you mine and my daughter Summer's outfits.

I'm wearing dark skinny jeans which I love because the dark colour is really flattering and they're super comfortable, I love wearing white in summer so I have on a white floaty top with pretty lace detailing at the top and I've finished off my outfit with a gorgeous statement necklace, some tan coloured ballet flats and my aviator sunglasses which are a must have accessory for me at this time of the year.

Summer is all in blue today which I love as it goes perfectly with her big blue eyes, don't get me wrong I love a bit of pink but I do find myself dressing Summer in blues quite a lot especially navy blue which is one of my favourite colours. I love the combination of the stripes on her t-shirt with the polka dots on her leggings and the hearts just make the outfit cute and girly.

She's just learning to walk at the moment so she has on her first 'proper' pair of shoes which are cream and also have little hearts on to tie in with the t-shirt and of course Summer is accessorizing with her pink blankie which never leaves her side, since these photos were taken Summer has lost her beloved blankie, click here to read about it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what we've been wearing.

Kids Style

It may sound silly but one of the things I love the most about having kids is shopping for their clothes, there are so many gorgeous things out there for children at the moment, boys and girls and I love to get the kids dressed up in all of the cute items that I get.

So with that in mind I thought it would be nice to show you my favourite items for Riley and Summer at the moment.

This denim shirt from House of Fraser looks so cool with the tan coloured shorts, I love how it looks on Riley and I love the palm leaf print. He looks like such a little dude in it, it's definitely going to get lots of wear this summer.

I love to see Summer in these super cute short dungarees also from House of Fraser, they look adorable with just a vest underneath when it's warm or in autumn/winter with a long sleeved top and tights, they're so versatile.

They're really soft and comfortable for her to wear which is important for kids clothing I think as there's nothing worse than stiff uncomfortable clothes when they're trying to play.

I love the pretty lace details on the front and back pockets and the fact that the straps are adjustable and so is the waist band which is perfect for me as Summer has a tiny waist and I always need to make them smaller.

Let me know what you think about these outfits and also what is your favourite item of clothing for your kids at the moment?

Potty Training Live 2014 - Week 4 Night Time Training

If you've made it to week 4 congratulations you're doing great!

This week I'm going to tell you some tips on getting your children dry at night which may be something that your children aren't quite ready for yet as some take longer than others so don't start this until you feel like your child is ready.

  • Buy a mattress protector as there will be night time accidents and mattresses aren't exactly easy to wash, also using the Dry Like Me Night Time Pads will help keep mess to a minimum too.
  • Limit the amount of drinks they have about an hour before bed, especially squashes and acidic drinks that can irritate the bladder.
  • Make sure they get into the routine of going to the toilet before bed, we usually get Riley to go after brushing his teeth.
  • Make sure the potty is nearby and they have a night light so they can see what they're doing in the night, putting the potty on a towel will catch any spillages.
  • You can go into your child at around 10-11pm and gently pop them on the potty for a 'dream wee' which will help while their bladder gets used to holding on over night.
  • If your child wakes in the night always get them to go to the toilet, even if they've had an accident.
  • Use reward charts and reward them for going to the toilet last thing at night and first thing in the morning, this will help get them into a good routine.

Hope this post helps a little, for lots more fab potty training tips and advice pop over to Potty Training Live.

The Ordinary Moments - Father & Son

When I found out I was pregnant with our first child I knew straight away that I wanted it to be a boy, partly because I felt very strongly that it was a boy and I wanted my instincts to be right but also because I knew Ian would love to have a son.

He was over the moon when we had our 20 week scan and it was confirmed that were having a boy and since the day he was born Riley and Daddy have been the best of friends.

Riley loves to be outside as does Ian and he loves to help Ian with his jobs like gardening, the pair of them took a trip to B&Q to get some plants and when they got back I took the chance to capture some images as they planted them, it really warms my heart to see them together.

Riley listens so intently to everything his Daddy says and he loves it when Ian tells him he's done a great job. He always likes to make Ian proud.

It's ordinary moments like this that make life special and I feel lucky to have such an amazing husband and beautiful children.
