TGI Friday's is one of my favourite places to eat at so I was thrilled when we were asked to go and try their new kids menu and also it tied in perfectly with a special outing we had planned for Riley's birthday.
We had decided to take Riley for his first cinema experience and thought it would be really nice to have lunch in TGI Friday's before the film.
We went to the one in Nottingham as that's the closest to where we live and also it's right next door to the cinema so it was really handy. We got seated straight away without any waiting which is always nice when you have a child with you and they gave Riley a kids activity pack to entertain him while we ordered our food which Riley loved.
The new kids menu was brilliant, all of the small kids dishes come with apple sticks, mixed peppers, cucumber and carrot which is one of their five-a-day, the small kids meals are just £3.49 each and you could chose from Fish Fingers, Chicken Burger, Chicken Tenders, Tomato Tubes (pasta) and Hamburger. Riley chose the Chicken Tenders with fries but you could also choose to have potato waffles instead of fries if you wanted.
Riley's meal looked delicious and there was just the right amount of food for him, if you have slightly older children there are larger meals on the kids menu aswell.
While me and Ian chose our food we decided to get a Mocktail and I chose a Strawberry Fields which was strawberry puree with apple juice, elderflower cordial, rose and vanilla syrup topped up with ice and soda, it was so yummy and it was nice to have something other than a coke for a change.
For our mains we both opted for my absolute favourite meal at TGI's the Jack Daniel's Chicken & Shrimp which is a chargrilled chicken breast coated in Jack Daniel's sweet 'n' smoky glaze with Cajun-battered shrimp served with cheesy mash and seasoned vegetables. The Jack Daniel's glaze is out of this world, I'm addicted to it, it's so good!
The food was amazing as it always is when we come to TGI's and although we were quite full after our mains we made sure we saved some room for dessert. The kids dessert menu is great including some fab choices like the Fairground Sundae which is real dairy ice cream, candy floss, popcorn and mini donuts served with strawberry or chocolate sauce or Milk and Oreo Cookies. Riley isn't very adventurous when it comes to dessert so he just had vanilla ice cream but he really enjoyed it.
We chose to share the Cookies & Cream Sundae which was Oreo cookies in soft vanilla ice cream with fudge and Oreo pieces in chocolate sauce topped with cream. It was so yummy, we absolutely loved it and could probably have eaten one each but we had to save room for popcorn at the cinema.
Overall we had a fantastic time at TGI Friday's and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere that is family friendly with a fab kids menu and a great atmosphere.
Have you eaten at TGI Friday's before? If so what's your favourite dish?
