100 Calorie Chocofudge Brownies Recipe

This recipe is something I found on The Londoner's blog, it's a yummy recipe for Chocofudge Brownies that only contain 100 calories each. When I found the recipe I had to give them a try as I've been dieting for the last 5 weeks and I've been craving something chocolate so I thought these were perfect.

The texture isn't exactly the same as your average brownie but they're very moist and definitely hit the spot with my chocolate craving and for just 100 calories if you're dieting then you really can't go wrong with these.

100 Calorie Chocofudge Brownies
(makes 9 brownies)

180g low fat yogurt
60ml skimmed milk (or almond/soy)
64g cocoa powder
43g wholegrain rolled oats
64g Natvia Sweetener (or any other sweetener that pours like sugar)
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C/400°F and grease a small (8in x 8in) baking tray. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix with a hand mixer until smooth, pour into the tray and pop in the oven for 20 minutes. Leave to cool and slice into 9 brownies. Depending on how gooey you like your brownies you might want to get them out a few minutes early.

I like to use British Lion Eggs when I'm baking as I think they're the best and anything that includes eggs is great in my book as they're so good for you, not a lot of people know about egg nutrition, they're one of the most nutritious foods that money can buy containing high quality protein, vitamins and minerals plus they're just 70 calories per egg. The recipe is super quick and really easy, these brownies will definitely get you through any major chocolate cravings while you're dieting and my kids loved them too.

A Fun Day Out At Thomas Land

Riley is a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine so you can imagine his excitement when we were invited to go to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor to see a special screening of the new Thomas film Tale of the Brave. Although we don't live that far away from Drayton Manor we'd never actually been before and I must say we were pleasently surprised at how close it was to us (we live in Nottingham) and how lovely it was when we got there.

I really liked the atmosphere at Drayton Manor, having been to Disney Land several times it's hard for other theme parks to really impress me but there was definitely something special about this place.

Our first stop when we got there was the 4D cinema where we were going to see the new Thomas film Tale of the Brave but on the way there we had to stop and take a photo with the car from Ben 10.

This was actually my first blogging event apart from Brit Mums and it was really nice to get to meet some of the bloggers I chat to online particularly Zena from Zena's Suitcase, Kelly from To Become Mum and Harriet from A Rush Of Love who were all really lovely.

While we waited to watch the film there were Thomas toys for the kids to play with and also the Fat Controller (although I'm not sure if you're supposed to call him that now) came in to visit and pose for photos.

Riley couldn't have been more excited, especially when we got popcorn and drinks to have during the film, he loved every minute of it and sat good as gold through the whole thing. It was a lovely story about being scared but also being brave and it even featured a dinosaur which is something else Riley loves.

After the film Riley received an amazing goodie bag which included the dvd, which he's now watched about a hundred times and some other toys so he felt very spoilt that day.

After the film we sat at the picnic tables and had our packed lunch and then we set off to explore Thomas Land, there is loads for kids to enjoy in there and we even got Riley to go on some of the rides which is pretty impressive as he's not usually keen on that sort of thing.

We went on the little monorail ride first which was nice as it gave us a good view of all of the rides so that we could choose what we went on next.

Riley loved the Bertie Bus ride but we couldn't convince him to go on the helicopter ride.

Another ride Riley loved (and Daddy from the looks of it) was the car ride, he felt like he was actually driving and he couldn't wait to tell me all about it when he got off.

After going on some rides we decided to have a ride on Thomas and explore the Dino Trail and the zoo which we really enjoyed, Riley loved hearing the facts about the dinosaurs and looking at the animals especially the snakes in the reptile house.

Overall we had a really lovely day out, we've already said that we'll definitely be returning when Summer is a little older as she would love it too and now that we know it's so close I'm sure it's somewhere we'll visit many times in the future.

Thomas and Friends Tale of the Brave is available to buy on dvd now and would make a fab little present for kids this Christmas.

Our Favourites - September

This month there have been quite a few things that we've been loving so I'm going to jump straight in and tell you all about them.

My favourite thing this month has been our new tripod, it's perfect for getting a lovely shot of us all together and it's so easy to use, your camera just screws on the top and there's a spirit level to make sure everything isn't tilted. It's great quality for how little it cost, I got mine from www.tmart.co.uk.

Macho's favourite things this month have been the Coachies Bacon Lick Treat and the Pet Head Dogs Love It Dry Shampoo. The lick treat is really clever, it's basically a roller ball which when licked dispenses the bacon flavour treat, it's perfect to carry on a walk and it's low in calories making it a great guilt free reward for your dog. The dry shampoo is so handy to have, we bath Macho quite regularly but this is perfect to use in between baths and it smells amazing.

Summer has been loving the Heinz Baby breakfasts lately, especially the muesli and the porridge, she has one or the other every morning followed by a banana and it seems to keep her going pretty much all morning.

After breakfast Summer likes to brush her teeth and we've been using the Baby Sonic electric toothbrush which she loves, it has a 2 minute light timer to teach babies how long to brush their teeth and it's suitable for 0-3 year olds.

Summer has also really enjoyed snacking on Organix products this month, we tried the Banana Soft Oaty Bars, Sweetcorn Salsa Snappy Crocs and the Fruit Gummies and she really liked them all. Her favourites were definitely the Fruit Gummies though, they're like sweets but with none of the bad stuff.

And lastly we've all been loving Oatly which is an alternative to cows milk made with oats, it's really yummy and is delicious in porridge, the kids liked it and I think it's a great option if you're dairy intolerant. You can get it from most supermarkets, we got ours from Tesco.

Siblings - September

I missed out on last months siblings post as my laptop charger broke and I wasn't able to blog so this month I'm using some photos from the last couple of months as I had taken some lovely photos of Riley and Summer together on our holiday in Filey.

They're relationship continues to grow and Riley is getting more and more protective of Summer as time goes by, he's very affectionate with her and loves to put his arm around her and give her a kiss which is so adorable to see.

Summer completely idolizes Riley and has to copy everything he does, she wants to be just like him.

Riley started school full time this week and Summer has really missed him being around to play with however she's also enjoyed having some one on one time with me which she doesn't get very often.

I love their special bond and look forward to writing this post every month and seeing how their relationship develops, I hope they're always this close.

Back To School

It's that time of the year again when us mums are filled with mixed emotions, glad that the long summer holidays are over so that we can have a minute to ourselves but sad because our babies are growing up too fast. Riley started full time school today and although he loved nursery he wasn't very excited to go to 'big school'.

Everytime I mentioned school over the holidays he kept saying "I'm not big enough for big school Mummy, I'm still a baby". It's very hard to have to tell your child that they are big when really I wanted to say "you are still a baby to me and you always will be".

He looked so smart in his new uniform, we got everything except his sweatshirt and book bag from Nutmeg at Morrisons. Their school wear is super affordable and great quality, we also got his P.E. kit from there.

We had a few tears when I left him at school but he calmed down, he didn't eat each much of his lunch which I fully expected as he's not a very good eater at the best of times and he got upset again in the afternoon and ended up falling asleep in the reading corner but he was ok when I picked him up and fingers crossed by the end of the week he'll be all settled in.

How did your little ones get on with their first day back at school?

Dining Room Furniture Wishlist

We're currently in the process of redesigning our kitchen/dining space and I've been spending hours browsing the internet for ideas, I love reading home decor posts especially wishlists so I thought I'd do a dining furniture wishlist to show my lovely readers what we're thinking of getting for our new dining room.

  • I'm absolutely in love with Cookes Funriture's Dining room range and their gorgeous oak and soft grey table and chairs are totally in my wish-list. I have picked up their sideboard aswell because it is equally as good.
  • This Next dining set will add some colour to our white and grey kitchen and I love the pretty design.
  • Lastly we've actually already bought the two pieces of wall art from BHS, they go with the grey theme but the thing I really love about them is the fact that they say 'Family' and 'Home' followed by the definition of the words as when our revamping of our living space is all done I hope it will be a beautiful family home.

Let me know what you think about our choices, I love to getting feedback on home decor.

Milkshake Stars DVD & Party Party Live Tour

As I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old our mornings always begin the same way, we get up, go downstairs, pop the tv on and turn on Channel 5 so that they can watch Milkshake, they absolutely love it! Riley love Thomas The Tank Engine and Milkshake Monkey and Summer loves Peppa Pig and when the presenters sing and dance and I must admit I quite enjoy it too.

There's a brand new Milkshake Stars DVD out on the 8th September and we were lucky enough to get our hands on one last week, it features all of our children's favourite characters including Bananas In Pyjamas, Tickety Toc, Chloe's Closet, Pip Ahoy!, Little Princess, Toby's Travelling Circus, Jelly Jamm and much more. Plus you also get some stickers which went down a treat with Summer as she is currently obsessed with stickers.

As well as the new DVD Milkshake have recently started a 12 month tour running until June 2015, Milkshake Party Party Live will feature all of the characters from the DVD aswell as 2 Milkshake presenters. There's music, singing and dancing as they all make preparations for Milkshake Monkey's surprise birthday party, but when Milkshake Monkey disappears the presenters will need the audiences help to find him in time for the party.

It looks like so much fun and something my kids would love to see, to find more information about the tour and also dates and venues check out the website.

Do your kids love Milkshake?
