Riley is a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine so you can imagine his excitement when we were invited to go to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor to see a special screening of the new Thomas film Tale of the Brave. Although we don't live that far away from Drayton Manor we'd never actually been before and I must say we were pleasently surprised at how close it was to us (we live in Nottingham) and how lovely it was when we got there.
I really liked the atmosphere at Drayton Manor, having been to Disney Land several times it's hard for other theme parks to really impress me but there was definitely something special about this place.
Our first stop when we got there was the 4D cinema where we were going to see the new Thomas film Tale of the Brave but on the way there we had to stop and take a photo with the car from Ben 10.
This was actually my first blogging event apart from Brit Mums and it was really nice to get to meet some of the bloggers I chat to online particularly Zena from Zena's Suitcase, Kelly from To Become Mum and Harriet from A Rush Of Love who were all really lovely.
While we waited to watch the film there were Thomas toys for the kids to play with and also the Fat Controller (although I'm not sure if you're supposed to call him that now) came in to visit and pose for photos.
Riley couldn't have been more excited, especially when we got popcorn and drinks to have during the film, he loved every minute of it and sat good as gold through the whole thing. It was a lovely story about being scared but also being brave and it even featured a dinosaur which is something else Riley loves.
After the film Riley received an amazing goodie bag which included the dvd, which he's now watched about a hundred times and some other toys so he felt very spoilt that day.
After the film we sat at the picnic tables and had our packed lunch and then we set off to explore Thomas Land, there is loads for kids to enjoy in there and we even got Riley to go on some of the rides which is pretty impressive as he's not usually keen on that sort of thing.
We went on the little monorail ride first which was nice as it gave us a good view of all of the rides so that we could choose what we went on next.
Riley loved the Bertie Bus ride but we couldn't convince him to go on the helicopter ride.
Another ride Riley loved (and Daddy from the looks of it) was the car ride, he felt like he was actually driving and he couldn't wait to tell me all about it when he got off.
After going on some rides we decided to have a ride on Thomas and explore the Dino Trail and the zoo which we really enjoyed, Riley loved hearing the facts about the dinosaurs and looking at the animals especially the snakes in the reptile house.
Overall we had a really lovely day out, we've already said that we'll definitely be returning when Summer is a little older as she would love it too and now that we know it's so close I'm sure it's somewhere we'll visit many times in the future.
Thomas and Friends Tale of the Brave is available to buy on dvd now and would make a fab little present for kids this Christmas.
