Super Easy Cinnamon & Raisin Cookies Recipe

Last week I did some baking with the kids and one of the treats we made were the most delicious cookies I think I've ever tasted. They were so easy to make and the kids loved them, plus I have a top tip to help your cookies get that yummy softness in the centre but still stay crispy around the edges and also get that perfect round shape.

75g (3oz) Flora Buttery
55g (2oz) caster sugar
100g (3oz) soft brown sugar
1 medium egg
1 tsp vanilla essence
100g (3oz) raisins
175g (6oz) self raising flour sieved together with
2 tsp ground cinnamon and
0.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda

Pre-heat the oven to 190°C/170°C fan or gas mark 5

Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat together with a wooden spoon until well mixed.

Brush baking sheets with Flora, take spoons of the mixture roll them into balls and place them on the baking sheets evenly spaced apart. Rolling the mixture into balls is my top tip on how to get the perfect cookie bake and appearance.

Bake on the middle shelf of the oven for 8-10 minutes and cool on a wire tray.

It's a super simple recipe but it makes amazing cookies, you can find this recipe and lots more fun recipes for kids at

Our Half Term Week Of Fun With Flora's Family Fun Guide

There's nothing worse during half term than hearing the kids say the dreaded words "I'm bored!" so when we were asked to take part in some activities from the Flora Family Fun Guide we jumped at the chance.

The guide is filled with recipes and craft ideas all aimed at children of varying ages meaning there is something for everyone and they were kind enough to send us everything we needed to complete five different activities.

Here's what we got up to during the week.

The kids absolutely loved the baking and eating the yummy treats afterwards and the crafts were a great success. Pop over to for lots of yummy recipes and activities to keep your little ones entertained.

American Horror Story, Sophia The First & Cupcakes #LittleLoves

Time for this weeks Little Loves, I've had a busy week with work and the kids, Summer has changed to a different Baby Ballet class and I was nervous that it wouldn't be as nice as her old one but I didn't need to worry as everyone was lovely and Summer got on really well. We've been doing lots of activities with the kids this week as we were sent a Boredom Busting Basket from Flora so that's been fun and generally just rushing around everywhere like a maniac, hopefully next week will be a little more relaxed.

I haven't had a minute to read anything this week I'm afraid, I've been way too busy sorting the kids out so I'm just going to pop a pic of Summer here in her ballet outfit lol.

I'm totally obsessed with the third season of American Horror Story at the moment, I've loved all of the season's so far but I think this one could be my favourite. It's very gruesome and quite twisted so if you like that sort of thing then you'll love this. I love that every season is a completely different subject with all new characters but they use the same actors, Jessica Lange has been brilliant in all three seasons so far and Kathy Bates stars in this one and she's fantastic, she plays evil so well.

The only music I've been listening to this week are the songs from the Disney Junior show Sophia The First, Summer absolutely loves it and I'm not ashamed to say that I really like it too, we have the CD in the car and we all love singing along to the songs, Blue Ribbon Bunny is a definite favourite.

I've been baking with the kids this week and we made Easy Peasy Cupcakes and Cinnamon & Raisin Cookies, they were both delicious and the kids had loads of fun making them. If you would like the recipes then pop over to

It's another one of Summer's outfits this week, I love the yellow jumper it makes me think of Spring time and warmer weather which really cheers me up on a rainy day like today. Click here to find out where everything is from.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Toddler Style - Lemon Sherbot

This weeks toddler style post is all about the colour yellow, when I saw this jumper in Tesco on a cold, grey rainy day I just had to buy it for Summer, the colour really cheered me up and I love the pretty heart design on the front.

The leggings are also from F&F at Tesco and they come as a 2 pack with another gorgeous pair of geometric print leggings that I'll be featuring next week. I love the colour and the frill along the bottom of them and the small yellow flower details on one leg really make the leggings work well with the jumper.

Last but by no means least are the gorgeous Gold Moccasins by Freshly Picked, they're super comfortable and really easy for kids to slip on and off themselves plus they look amazing with this outfit.

Let me know if you like this outfit and want to see more.

Pancake Day Fun With Hartley's Jam

I love pancakes and always look forward to Pancake Day every year, this year we were a little more excited than usual as we had been challenged by Hartley's Jam to make some pancakes and decorate them with funny faces. They sent us everything we needed to make them and the kids couldn't wait to get started.

My husband whipped us up a batch of pancakes and the kids got started with their decorating, very quickly followed by eating.

The Hartley's Squeezy Jam was great to decorate the pancakes with and the kids loved the yummy flavours and the fact that it's smooth with no bits.

We had lots of fun making our funny face pancakes, which one do you like best?

If you have a go at funny face pancakes today make sure you tweet a pic over to @hartleysjelly

Gift Ideas For 2 Year Olds

It's only 1 month until my daughter Summer turns 2, she's obsessed with Disney's Sophia the First so her party and probably most of her presents with be based around that but I thought it would be helpful to other mums to share some gift ideas for 2 year olds.

The first idea is the Peppa Pig's First Discovery Tablet, now if your child is anything like mine then they'll want to get their hands on your tablet whenever possible so it makes sense to get them one of their own with the added bonus of it being Peppa Pig themed. This is great because it makes my daughter feel like she's grown up and copying mummy whilst also learning colours, numbers, letters, characters and musical instruments. It features 27 different contacts and the voice of Peppa Pig as well as lots of funny sounds.

Next up is the super cute Wheely Bug, what I love about this is that it has 4 wheels that swivel 360 degrees meaning that your child doesn't have to drag it around corners and on our laminate floors Summer can whizz around to her hearts content. They come in 2 different sizes and lots of different animals so there something for every child's taste.

I love wooden toys and this wooden Birthday Cake With Knife is so adorable, my daughter loves to play with her kitchen and tea set so I think this will be a good addition, plus it's perfect as a birthday gift.

Last but not least is the Doc McStuffins and Lambie dolls, we have the Disney Junior channel on most of the day in our house and both of my children love Doc McStuffins so this would be a great gift for Summer and probably most other 2 year olds aswell if they're familiar with the show.

Hope this helps if you're struggling with what to buy for your 2 year old at the moment and if you have any other suggestions for me then leave me a comment below.

Siblings - February 2015

I haven't done a siblings post in a while and I've really missed it, when I was doing it regularly I always made a conscious effort to get some nice photos of them together and the last few months of not taking part I've hardly taken any of them so I wanted to get back to it and hopefully it will encourage me to gets lots more lovely shots of my beautiful babies.

Summer continues to copy everything Riley does and I've noticed that they play together a lot more now because Summer is capable of doing more of the things that Riley can do. It's lovely to sit and watch them playing but unfortunately at the moment the playing always seems to get a little rough and someone (usually Summer) ends up getting hurt and crying.

We're slowly working on teaching Riley that he has to remember that Summer is younger and smaller than him and he sometimes hurts her without really meaning to, the problem is no matter how many times he makes her cry she always goes back for more, she just loves him so much.

They love sitting as close together as possible on the sofa in the evenings having a snack before bedtime, it's so adorable.

As their relationship develops I can kind of see how it's going to go, Riley is easily wound up and Summer knows this and takes great pleasure in winding him up at any opportunity and then sitting back and laughing while he flips out. Also as Summer is quite mischievous Riley likes to encourage her to do naughty things that he wouldn't do himself as he knows he'd get in trouble but as Summer idolizes him she will pretty much do anything he says, he finds her little naughty streak hilarious and as she's so cute with it we can't help but laugh too.

I'm loving watching their relationship grow and change as the months and years go on and I look forward to seeing how they are together in the future.

White Chocolate Sweethearts

With Valentine's Day right around the corner and the kids needing something to keep them entertained during half term I set them to work making these super easy but very yummy White Chocolate Sweethearts.

All you need to make them is three simple ingredients and a heart shaped silicone chocolate mould, I got mine from Aldi yesterday.

White chocolate
Smarties or M&Ms

I used pink Smarties because they go with the Valentine's theme and I thought pink, white and red sprinkles would look cute and tie it all together.

All you need to do to make them is pop a few Smarties in the bottom of each heart mould, we put about three in each and then fill in the gaps with sprinkles until the bottom of all the moulds are covered.

Next you melt the chocolate either in the microwave or in a bowl over a pan of boiling water, I used around 150g of chocolate and it was just the right amount. Let the chocolate cool a little so it thickens a bit this way it's not too runny and also if the kids are helping out it's not going to burn them, then gently spoon it into the moulds over the Smarties and sprinkles until each mould is full.

As you can see I placed my chocolate mould on to a baking tray before I started so that it could be transferred easily into the fridge otherwise it's a nightmare to move as it's so floppy. When all the moulds are full of chocolate give the tray a few gentle taps to dislodge any air bubbles and place in the fridge for around an hour to set.

Once the chocolate is totally set the chocolates should easily pop out of the moulds and you'll have some super cute Valentine's treats to share with your husband, boyfriend or you could just eat them all yourself lol.

My kids loved making these and the fun thing is you can mix up the sweets and sprinkles to make them work for any occasion.

Check out my Valentine's Pinterest Board for more ideas.
