Bathroom Inspiration

If everything goes to plan we'll be moving into our new home in the next couple of months and we're so excited, I've been spending hours on Pinterest searching for inspiration and planning how I will decorate our new house once we've moved in and today I'm sharing my bathroom inspiration with you.

First up is the gorgeous vanity unit from Bella Bathrooms, I'm obsessed with grey at the moment and I think this unit would look great in our family bathroom plus it has a good size cupboard underneath for all of my beauty products. For more stunning vanity units click here.

I like these Ikat border towels from Asda, the colour would match the vanity unit perfectly and the Ikat design looks really contemporary and cool plus they're a bargain at just £6.

I'm in love with the Belice LED Mirror from Pebble Grey, it looks really sophisticated with the LED lights, the mirror is steam free, it has a handy shelf and a shaver socket which will make life much easier for my husband, I think it will be a beautiful feature in our bathroom.

Lastly I love the Slatted Bathroom Shelving Ladder Unit from Matalan, it's so handy to store towels on and is also nice for putting little decorative items on to give the room more personality.

Let me know what you think of my choices, which item is your favourite?

The Importance Of Having Your Child's Eyes Tested

Up to 1 million children in the UK currently have an undetected vision problem. Although 90% of children have regular dental check ups, only 7% of children aged under 5 are taken to the opticians, yet at least 10% and possibly as many as a third of children in England may be at risk of avoidable and lifelong vision problems going undetected which can effect their education and cause permanent damage to their sight.

It can be difficult to know if your child is struggling with their eye sight as it's not always something they would think to mention to you but there are some signs that you can look out for which may imply they're having a problem. Look out for your child sitting too close to the tv, rubbing their eyes a lot, holding objects very close to their face, blinking a lot or one eye turning either in or out, if you have any concerns about your child's eye sight then make them an appointment with an ophthalmic practitioner like optical express as soon as possible.

Opticians are really good at making eye tests more fun than scary for kids as any form of testing can be a little daunting. There's no need to worry if your child doesn't recognise letters yet as fun pictures that your child will easily recognise are used instead and different colours are used to check for colour blindness, my son actually really enjoyed his eye test and could happily have continued longer with it if he could.

June Favourites

As we come to the end of June I thought I'd do a round up of everything that my kids have been loving this month, we have a variety of things including toys, toiletries and tv shows so keep reading to find out more.

First up the kids have been loving the gorgeous organic skincare products by Little Butterfly, their products are perfect for sensitive skin, can be used on newborns and support very dry and eczema-prone skin and they also have a lovely delicate fragrance and look gorgeous on the side of our bath thanks to the beautiful packaging. We especially love the Bubbles In The Breeze Top to Toe Wash and the Floating On Clouds Bedtime Bathmilk.

Summer has been obsessed with playing with the Something Special Mr Tumble's Alphabet toy lately, she loves all of the sounds that play when she pushes the buttons and it's actually helping her to learn different letters too. It features 8 great games to learn all about letters, alphabet and word recognition all whilst having fun with Mr Tumble and is suitable from 3 years +.

Riley loves his Room To Grow Lulu Teaching Alarm Clock as he's very interested in learning how to tell the time. This clock is really helping him, it's super colourful and makes learning to tell the time lots of fun.

Lastly both of the kids are absolutely loving watching the new Clangers tv show on CBeebies, the series is a remake of the much-loved show from the 1960's/70's created by the team behind Bagpuss, it features the voice of Michael Palin as the narrator and is aimed at preschoolers but can be enjoyed by everyone. Catch it week days at 5.30pm on CBeebies.

New Home Haul

In the last couple of weeks we've made some really big decisions, we decided to scrap our ideas of extending our current home and put our house on the market, our house sold in just six days and we are now in the process of buying the house of our dreams. The new house is in a different area to where we currently live so we'll be moving away from family and friends and also moving Riley to a different school which is a little daunting but we're confident that it's the right thing to do.

Our new house is still being built but I couldn't resist starting to buy a few new bits ready for when we move in which should be around mid August time, here's what I've picked up so far.

There's nothing better than a great smelling house and I'm a big fan of reed diffusers as I think the scent lasts a really long time so I picked up the absolutely gorgeous Orla Kiely Sicilian Lemon Reed Diffuser. Not only does it smell amazing it looks great too, I love the Climbing Daisy design and I know it's going to look so pretty in our new home. Orla Kiely has just re-released her collection with six beautiful statement prints and three exciting new fragrances which are also available as candles, you can buy them now in John Lewis, House of Fraser and Fenwick.

The next item I got was the super cute Cream Welly Vase from George at Asda, it's perfect for our new house as we're going for a country cottage decor theme in the kitchen and I thought this would look really cute on the windowsill or dining table.

Next up is an item also from George at Asda, the Bee Happy Sign, this was one of those spur of the moment purchases, I'm not sure exactly where I'm going to put it but I really like it, I'm sure we'll find a place for it once we've moved in.

I thought this Heart Shaped Slate Sign from Matalan would look really pretty hung in the garden once we've finished giving it a bit of a makeover and it was a bargain for just £3.00.

The last item is the Floral Print Peg Bag which is also from Matalan, I needed a new peg bag as mine are currently in an old carrier bag and I thought this was cute and super cheap at just £4.00.

That's everything I've bought so far but I'm sure there will be many more purchases to come so if you like these kind of posts stay tuned for more soon and also some photos of the progress of our new home as it comes together.

Riley's Bedroom Makeover

If you follow me on Instagram or Pinterest then you will know that over the last few weeks we've been transforming Riley's bedroom from a baby room to more of a grown up 'big boy' room.

Decal from Etsy

It's been so much fun picking out everything to go in the room and choosing a theme, we decided to go for a woodland theme with bears, wolves, mountains and a touch of native american. We painted his room in a pale grey and put up an amazing decal which really set the stage for the rest of the room, we added a reading corner with picture shelves from Ikea and added some colour with a gorgeous pair of teal curtains from Woolworths.

We had a great time converting Riley's old wooden train set table into a Lego table (you can find the tutorial here) and I found the perfect rug to bring everything together. Lastly we added some prints from Etsy and the room was complete, I absolutely love how it's turned out and I'm lucky if I can ever get Riley to come downstairs anymore, he loves it so much he wants to spend every minute in it.

Canvas print from Graham & Brown

Storage tubs from Ikea.

Storage basket from H&M

Rug from Lullabuy

Prints from Etsy.

Check out my Pinterest Board for all the links and ideas for this room.

Netflix - Our Favourite Shows

This year we were lucky enough to be chosen to be a part of the Netflix Stream Team which means we get to try out Netflix for a whole year, we've had it for a few weeks now and so far we're absolutely loving it.

If you're not familiar with Netflix it's a monthly subscription on demand service that allows you to stream thousands of tv shows and movies via your tv, laptop, tablet or smart phone.

I love how each family member has their own profile which recommends things for you to watch that it thinks you might like based on your previous choices and it's so easy to use my four year old son can navigate it with no problem at all.

So what have we enjoyed watching the most so far?

Riley has loved watching BBC's Walking With Dinosaurs, he's always loved dinosaurs since he was a baby and he finds these documentaries not only fascinating but educational too. He's always telling me little facts that he's learnt about dinosaurs from the show, he really enjoys it.

Summer loves to watch Charlie and Lola, it's a lovely programme about a boy called Charlie and his little sister Lola and all the adventures that they get up to. It's great because I can sit Summer down with her lunch and pop this on and Netflix automatically plays the next episode when the first one is finished so Summer doesn't have to keep coming to find me to put the next episode on, it makes sure she sit's still and finishes her food without getting up and spilling it everywhere.

Me and my husband have been completely addicted to watching Breaking Bad and Netflix has all five seasons so you can have a Breaking Bad marathon if you wish (I would if I had the time). The show is about a chemistry teacher Walter White who finds out he has terminal lung cancer and decides to partner up with his former student Jesse to make and sell the drug crystal meth in order to make money to provide for his family after his death. It's such a great show and will have you hooked after the first episode, if you haven't already watched it then you should definitely give it a try.

The only film I've gotten around to watching so far is Katy Perry Part Of Me, I love Katy Perry so I found this behind the scenes look at her life on tour really interesting, it was full of highs and lows with the success of her world tour to the breakdown of her marriage to Russel Brand. It's a must watch for any Katy Perry fans out there.

Do you have Netflix? If so what do you recommend I watch next?
