You may have seen my post a couple of weeks ago which included a Soup Maker available in the Aldi Specialbuys for just £49.99, well Aldi were kind enough to send me one to try out and today I made a delicious Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato soup in it using a recipe from the booklet which comes with it, here's how I got on.
The Soup Maker itself is quite heavy and feels very good quality, nothing like some of the cheap, flimsy items I've tried before. The base has little suckers on so that it sticks to the worktop and doesn't move around when blending which is a really good feature and the controls are all nice and simple and easy to figure out and use.
There's a power button, up and down time arrows to adjust cooking times, a heating and cooking button which heats ingredients to boiling point, a heating and blending button which can be performed at the same time and a heating and keeping warm button which simmers and keeps dishes hot.
There is also a blending dial which allows you to choose if you're blending liquid or solid ingredients or if you want to pulse which would be used if you were crushing ice, plus there's a mix control button which will mix up your soup for you.
The soup itself was really easy to make, all I did was chop up the ingredients, pop them in the Soup Maker along with some stock and then heat and blend until the ingredients were cooked and blended to a smooth consistency.
The soup was absolutely delicious, I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was to make such a tasty and healthy dish. We've used the Soup Maker quite a few times now and have found it a godsend when it comes to using up any vegetables or leftover meats, we just pop them in and make a yummy soup for the next day.
As I mentioned before the Soup Maker can also be used for other things such as crushing ice and as a blender which really comes in handy. The booklet that comes with it contains recipes for soups as well as smoothies.
Although the Specialbuys event was a couple of weeks ago there may be some of the Soup Makers still available to buy in Aldi stores, there are definitely some left in my local store so if you're interested in buying one go and take a look.
I couldn't live without mine now, have you tried a Soup Maker?
