Helping A Friend Stop Smoking

As a parent, one of the most important things you can do for your kids is to make sure you are living healthily. Eating well, getting regular exercise and generally looking after your own well-being has not only a positive benefit for your health, it sets the best example for your children to follow as they grow up.

As we all know, one of the biggest steps you can make to improve your health is to give up smoking. Cigarettes contain thousands of chemicals, with many of these known to cause cancer. In the UK alone, around 100,000 people per year die from smoking-related illnesses.


That’s why it’s always great to see a friend choose to quit tobacco, knowing that they’re doing the right thing by themselves and by their family.

For many smokers, switching to vaping instead has worked well in helping them quit tobacco. The use of e-cigarettes over the past few years has increased dramatically, as more and more people switch to using these instead of smoking tobacco.

E-cigarettes, if you haven’t encountered them before, are battery-operated devices which include a tank or chamber filled with e-liquid. When you activate the battery, the liquid in the chamber is vaporised, with the user inhaling the vapour produced.

This vapour is free from the thousands of chemicals found in tobacco smoke, including particularly dangerous substances like tar and carbon monoxide. In most cases, these e-liquids still contain nicotine, though there are nicotine-free versions available.

E-liquids come in thousands of different flavours too, making it easy to find the flavour which helps you to stay free from tobacco. There are a huge range of types of e-cig available too, with something to suit every budget.

The primary benefit of switching to vaping over smoking is the positive effect on health that it offers. In fact, Public Health England last year stated that e-cigarettes are at least 95% safer to use than tobacco. There are other benefits too, of course, including a cost-saving (which with a young family is always appreciated) as well as a lack of stinky smoke sticking to your clothes and hair. Last, but certainly not least, is the knowledge that your kids will be proud of your leaving tobacco behind.

If you’re a smoker and are seeking a method of quitting tobacco for good, e-cigarettes are definitely an option worth looking at. Your health, and your children, will thank you for it.
